Course Overview
At any given time, approximately 1 in 5 people are working with a mental health condition. Many others are dealing with additional or different challenges, such as relationship breakdowns, family violence or financial difficulties. What you and your colleagues do to support them matters – to them, and to your business.
Promoting organisational wellbeing improves morale, relationships and productivity, while reducing absenteeism and staff turnover. For individuals, supportive workplaces help recovery and resilience and with people spending so much time each day at work, the workplace is an influential environment when it comes to mental wellbeing – and everyone has a role to play, not just the team leader or OHS manager.
Our Friend in Need course offers practical tips about how people can support a mate going through a tough time.
The workshop helps to:
-
reduce the stigma associated with mental, relationship and financial challenges;
-
increase understanding of what emotional and practical support can look like, and how everyone can play a part in healthy workplace communities;
-
increase awareness of services and supports available to those who are struggling (and to their friends, family or colleagues);
-
normalise the seeking of professional support – potentially before critical level crisis support is needed.

This workshop is suitable for everyone.
